Berning charged in woman’s death
A Necedah man has been charged in the death of a Mauston woman. According to the criminal complaint, in November 2012 31-year old Thomas Berning was driving on 15th Avenue near 47th Street in the Town of Lemonweir. According to the State Patrol reconstruction team, the car was traveling 90-miles per hour when it started to rotate counter clockwise. It entered the ditch striking several small trees, then continued into a field rolling several times ejecting Berning and a passenger, 28-year old Terri Golden. Both Berning and Golden were medically transported for their injuries. Golden was initially transported to Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston then med-flown to UW-Hospital in Madison where she died of internal injuries. Berning has been charged with 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide. He is summoned to appear in court on February 20th, 2013.
