Annual Shred It and Medication Take Back Day
contributed…..Mauston, May 14, 2013 – On May 4, The Bank of Mauston and The Greater Mauston Area Chamber of Commerce joined forces to host their annual Shred It and Medication Take Back Day event, and as a result helped make our community a safer place.
Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States. Some of these cases can be attributed to improper disposal of sensitive paper documents. To help area residents reduce their risk of identity theft, The Bank of Mauston invited community members to this free event to have their paper documents disposed of securely and properly. Throughout the morning, there were 109 cars that took advantage of the opportunity to have their items shredded.
In addition to the Shred It event, representatives from The Greater Mauston Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mauston Police Department were available the morning of May 4 to collect unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications. At the end of event, there were two-and-a-half 50 gallon bags full of items that community members had brought in for safe and proper disposal.
By collecting these items, The Bank of Mauston and The Greater Mauston Area Chamber of Commerce did their parts to help make our community a safer place. Won’t you help to keep the good work going?
