An Adams man has been the victim of international wire fraud. Police says the victim told the Adams police officer that he had an online relationship with a woman from Nigeria. The victim said that last month, she told him that she wanted to visit him in the States, but she needed money to get there. She told the victim that she could not cash a check at a bank in her country and needed him to cash it from his. She sent a check for $2,000 to his account and he sent two different payments almost to the equivalent the amount to her via Western Union. Later, his bank told the victim that her check for $2,000 was worthless and he needed to inform the police. The Adams Police Department forwarded a copy of the case to the FBI field in Madison to further investigate it.
