Adams County deputy wounded
An Adams County deputy was wounded Tuesday night by a shooter at a Town of Big Flats residence. Sheriff Sam Wollin said this Wednesday morning at a press conference at the Courthouse, “the Sheriff’s Deputy and Town of Rome Police Officer responded to a call about 8pm. Officers approached and made contact with a man inside the residence. Law enforcement gave verbal commands but the man instead fired several rounds from a handgun and struck the deputy. Law enforcement did not return fire, and the shooter sustained a self-inflicted gunshot would. Both men were transported to an area hospital and remain under medical care.” Sheriff Wollin would not take reporters’ questions regarding the condition of the men or names.
