A Couple Is the Victim of a Internet Scam
A couple from the Town of Plymouth has been the victims of an internet scam. The victims had about 2,000 dollars taken from their bank account by a subject posing as a representative from Windows PC Health in Michigan. The victims contacted their bank to stop any recent transactions that hadn’t been approved by them, and filed a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center. Local law enforcement reminds the community that there are ways to avoid internet fraud: Don’t give out personal information online unless that website is secured and reputable, do some research on the company or individual to make sure they are who what they said they are, and check with the Better Business Bureau from the seller’s location. Go to fbi.gov for a complete list of tips on avoiding internet fraud as well as identity theft.
