A five-year-old was severely injured in a one-vehicle crash on March 2nd in Orange Township.  Law enforcement was not contacted about the crash until Tomah Memorial Hospital called as they were trying to treat the boy, who was then transported to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in Lacrosse for further treatment. The driver of the vehicle asked witnesses not to call authorities, but called the boy’s father after the accident.  The father came and rushed the boy to the hospital.  The driver was identified as Melissa Erdman, age 28 of Camp Douglas.  Erdman was aware she did not have a valid driver’s license, and was charged with knowingly operating a vehicle without the license and causing great bodily harm, a repeater.  The criminal complaint states that she had previously been cited eight times for driving without a valid license.  The five year old boy sustained a broken elbow, concussion, and fractured pelvis.
