During the monthly County Board meeting last week, Juneau County Coroner Kathy Kohutko presented her annual report. In 2011, the Juneau County Coroner’s Office investigated 164 deaths, 126 were natural deaths, 32 accidental deaths, four suicides, and two deaths were undetermined. Of the 32 accidental deaths, 13 were the result of falls, nine traffic fatalities, two each as a result of asphyxia, fire, hyper or hypothermia or drug overdose. Of the four suicidal deaths in 2011, two were the result of hanging, one drowning, and one poisoning.
