Vernon County Sheriff Gene Cary said Friday night about 9pm…a Viola man, 40-year old Jerry Mikkelson, was traveling east on Leum Road in the Town of Webster when he lost control.  The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees.  Mikkelson was transported by LaFarge ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.  He was later transferred to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse where he died of injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident.   Mikkelson was pronounced dead by the Vernon County Coroner’s Office.
