Are you interested in learning more about law enforcement?  Lieutenant Tony Hiess of the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department will be offering a Citizens Academy this fall.  Lieutenant Hiess says the 10-session program will provide citizens with a better understanding of the problems that exist in the community and what the Sheriff’s Office is doing to hold the line.    It is hoped the training will increase interaction of the deputies with different segments of our community.  The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy will be held September 7th through November 9th, 2010 at the Juneau County Justice Center.  The academy will be held on Tuesday evenings and will run in three hour blocks.  Individuals who live, work, or own property in Juneau County and who are at least 21-years old are eligible to apply.  Applicants will be subject to a background check and must not have any felony or misdemeanor convictions.  There is no fee for the academy.  If interested in applying for the up-coming Citizen’s Academy, please contact Lt. Hiess at 608-847-9432 or e-mail thiess@co.juneau.wi.us    Applications will also be available at the front desk of the Sheriff’s Office in Mauston.
