A 17-year old Wisconsin Rapids girl was med-flown to a Wausau hospital as a result of injuries received in a three-vehicle accident Friday. The State Patrol said Wood County authorities were in pursuit of the juvenile for an outstanding warrant. Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy pursued the 2003 Chevy Malibu the girl was driving into Adams County where a town of Rome Police Officer continued the pursuit. The chase continued another 10 to 13-miles along Highway 13 by Adams County authorities. The juvenile then crashed into a 2008 Grand Prix stopped along Highway 13 near Cottonville Road. The driver of the car, 54-year old Kathleen Pierce of Friendship, had stopped along the roadway to allow the emergency vehicles to pass. Pierce and a passenger, 84-year old Betty Lobenstein of Friendship, received non-live threatening injuries. The debris from the accident struck a third vehicle being operated by 50-year old Bill Mills of Friendship. Mills and a passenger, 45-year old Lori Mills of Friendship, were uninjured. The 17-year old girl was med-flown to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau with non-life threatening injuries. Her passenger, a Wisconsin Rapids woman, 18-year old Stephanie Wittenberg, received non-life threatening injuries. The State Patrol said law enforcement had attempted to stop the 2003 Chevy Malibu using spike strips prior to the crash.
