Juneau County Relay for Life will be held Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31st at the Mauston Track Field.  A special invitation to cancer survivors and their caretakers to attend the opening ceremonies Friday at 6 p.m. and participate in the Survivors Lap and a special Caretakers Lap.  Luminaria Ceremony at 10 p.m. Friday.  Food, live music, raffles, cancer support and information.

7/31/10 Barrels, Bulls & Bands/Woodside Ranch-Mauston
Barrels, Bulls & Bands will be held Saturday, July 31st at Woodside Ranch, Mauston.  Gates open 10 a.m.  Barrels at 11 a.m.  Bull riding at 6 p.m.  Live Country Music all day.  Concert on the lake.  Overnight camping available.  For information call 608-606-1350.

Monroe County law enforcement and Tomah Memorial Hospital invite the public to the 8th Annual Monroe County National Night Out to be held Tuesday, August 3rd from 4-8 p.m. at Winnebago Park in Tomah.  Tomah Police Dept. Bike & Blading Safety Expo 4-6 p.m.  Tomah Police K-9 & Combined Tactical Vehicle Demo at 6 p.m.  Dive Team Exhibition at 6:30 p.m.  Mock Crash & “Jaws of Life” demonstration at 7 p.m.  The Boys & Girls club will provide children’s games.  Food and refreshments for sale in the park.  Dunk tank with area “celebrities”.  Bring non-perishable food items, donations to be given to Tomah’s “Neighbor to Neighbor” Food Pantry.  No admission charge.

The congregation of Peace Presbyterian Church in Mauston will be holding its 4th annual community pig roast on Saturday, August 14th.  It’ll be held at the new park shelter at Lion’s Park in Mauston (please use the Vine Street entrance).  The fun will begin at 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served beginning at noon.  In addition to the main course, other dishes, including salads, desserts and beverages will be served.  There will also be games.  No charge to attend.

An afternoon of fun “Beach Playground” will be held Thursday, June 21st from 1-3 p.m. at Buckhorn State Park, Necedah.  Wiggle a salmon model through at spawning obstacle course, catch and release trout models with mango flies, and find out if you can be a fish that survives a feeding frenzy.  Wear clothes that can get wet and dirty.  Make your own fish models, tie a fly, eat fish food and make a fish print t-shirt.  Materials supplied at the program, but bring a clean white t-shirt.

“Connecting with Nature through Art” will be held Saturday, August 28th at 10 a.m. at Roche-A-Cri Park at Chickadee Rock Trailhead.  Hike with artist, Geri Schrab to learn about nature and how are is related.  Fun for all ages.  “Archeology and Rock Art” will be presented at 2 p.m.  Geri Schrab and archaeologist, Cindi Stiles, will talk about the importance of the Roche-A-Cri rock art, possible meanings and will have a creative activity for kids.
