Walker issued a statement Friday saying he will be meeting with Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm. He did not say when the meeting would take place.

The indictments so far have come against people who worked or were associated with Walker’s county executive office in Milwaukee before he was elected governor. Two people were charged with embezzling $60,000 from veterans and their families. Two others last week were charged with illegal campaign activity on public time.

Walker says he has hired two attorneys but no public money will be used to pay for their services.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The Wisconsin Court of Appeals has vacated an order that would require state election officials to be more aggressive in ferreting out fake or duplicate signatures on recall petitions.

The decision released Friday reverses a Waukesha County judge’s decision and hands a victory to Democrats who wanted to intervene in a lawsuit related to recall signatures.

Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign had sued the state Government Accountability Board, saying the GAB wasn’t planning to be aggressive enough in tossing fraudulent signatures. Democratic recall committees wanted to intervene in the suit but were denied.

The appeals court says the recall committees should have been allowed to participate.

The ruling sends the case back to Judge Mac Davis, who will have to issue a new order on how the GAB must handle signatures.

The Associated Press first reported Thursday that GOP candidate Mark Neumann’s company Neumann Solar Leasing received about $81,000 in grants last year. But Neumann said Friday that company and another one, MN Solar Leasing, had gotten even more in stimulus grants and other tax credits.

The U.S. Treasury Department confirms that MN Solar Leasing got nearly $418,000 in stimulus grants. Neumann says his companies have gotten about $250,000 in additional tax credits established by President George W. Bush.

Neumann says the incentives have helped his companies invest in Wisconsin projects and create about 50 jobs.

Michael Foods, of Minnetonka, is recalling eggs in brine sold in
10- and 25-pound pails for institutional use in 34 states. The eggs
carry six brand names: Columbia Valley Farms, GFS, Glenview Farms,
Papetti’s, Silverbrook and Wholesome Farms.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the eggs were
produced at Michael Foods’ plant in Wakefield, Neb., and were
bought by food distributors and manufacturers. There have been no
reports of illness connected to the eggs. But, the company says the
eggs have the potential to be contaminated with a strain of
listeria that can cause serious infections in those with weaker
immune systems.
have decided not to ban a man known as the “Bible Man” from
holding monthly meetings with elementary school children.
The board took up the matter this week in response to complaints
that religious assemblies were being held during the school day.
The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation objected to
the voluntary school meetings on behalf of some parents.
The Huntsville Times reports (http://bit.ly/z7PqOc) the board
deliberated for an hour, as a standing-room-only crowd of more than
100 people prayed, sang and shared stories of the “Bible Man,” as
Horace Turner Jr. is called.
Superintendent Kenneth Harding says Turner leads assemblies with
elementary children to tell stories from the Bible.
Freedom from Religion co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor said the
board’s decision “is totally unacceptable.”

The Bureau of Indian Affairs says it’s conducting an inquiry
after at least one tribal government asked it to get involved.
The contentious mining bill would streamline the state’s complex
mine-permitting process. Republicans hope the bill will kick-start
plans for an iron mine just south of Lake Superior.
A Wisconsin Public Radio report (http://bit.ly/AsuQNj ) says
officials from the Lac du Flambeau, Red Cliff, Bad River and
Menominee tribes claim the lawmaking process ignored treaty rights.
Bureau spokeswoman Nedra Darling says the agency is acting on a
2009 executive order that federal officials consult with tribal
governments on matters that involve the tribes.
Northern States Power Company-Wisconsin, Dairyland Power
The utilities say they need the line to serve rising demand in
unclear whether the area’s population will grow enough to justify
