Dane County gets state’s first black DA

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The state’s first black district attorney
begins his new job in Dane County on Monday.
Gov. Jim Doyle appointed Ismael Ozanne Dane County District
Attorney to replace Brian Blanchard, who was elected judge for the

EAA’s AirVenture winds down

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) – The Experimental Aircraft Association’s
annual AirVenture convention is winding down.
The last day, Sunday, features a mass hot-air balloon launch if
the weather permits. There’s also an afternoon air show featuring

DNR seeks input on duck seasons

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – State wildlife officials want to hear from
duck hunters about this fall’s season structure.
The Department of Natural Resources anticipates an overall
60-day season with a total bag limit of six ducks. The complete

Wis. shifts to enforce invasive regs

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin wardens say they are shifting
from educating boaters about invasive species regulations to
enforcing them.
Department of Natural Resources officials say boat inspectors

Hearing set on Kewaunee Indians mascot, nickname

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A hearing is set for Wednesday on whether
the Kewaunee School District can keep Indians as its nickname.
The state Department of Public Instruction received a complaint

Police: 12-year-old girl injured in ‘free fall’

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (AP) – Police say a 12-year-old girl was seriously injured on a “free fall” amusement ride when a net that was supposed to catch her failed.
